Program Overview
In the Canary Islands, we will visit Los Muchachos Observatory in La Palma which boasts the 10.4 meter Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC), the largest single-aperture optical telescope in the world. La Palma, known as "the beautiful island", is renowned for its impressive volcanoes, deep forests, and star-filled skies. Due to its biodiversity and luxurious vegetation, the island was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2002. La Palma is recognized as a stargazing destination by the Starlight Foundation. Next, fly to Morocco, a country of amazing diversity. Here you will find epic mountain ranges, ancient cities, UNESCO world heritage sites, a mix of Arab, European, and African cultures, sweeping deserts, and some of the darkest desert skies in the world. You will visit the Oukaimeden Observatory in the Atlas Mountains, ride camels on top of the desert dunes, enjoy stargazing and behold magnificent sunsets and sunrises.
