The Canary Islands & Astronomy
Program Overview
The Canary Islands - La Palma and Tenerife - boast some of the most advanced astronomical observatories in the world and best places for stargazing on Earth. On La Palma enjoy a private visit to Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory, home of the Gran Telescopio CANARIAS - the world's largest single-aperture optical telescope. In Tenerife, we'll visit the Teide Observatory home to the SPECULOOS-North part of a network of 1-meter-class telescopes searching for exoplanets. On Tenerife, explore Teide National park a UNESCO world heritage site and home to Spain's highest peak. Both islands are known as "Starlight Destinations". Learn about cutting edge research, enjoy multiple opportunities to stargaze, go whale watching and swimming from a private catamaran, participate in an astrophotography workshop, tour charming local towns, and sample the local wine and food.
