Program Overview

Travel with your family on an exciting program specifically designed for multi-generations. This tour features three distinct locations: Poás Volcano, Arenal Lake and Volcano, and the Central Pacific including Manuel Antonio National Park and Carara National Park. Take a journey on a safari boat down tropical rivers in search of parrots, crocodiles, sloths, and other wildlife. Enjoy horseback rides to waterfalls, hikes in the rainforest, zip-lining through the forest canopy, and bathing in volcanic thermal waters. Sail aboard a catamaran along the Pacific Coast. Opportunities for swimming and snorkeling are available.

Itinerary

Day 1: U.S. / San José

Depart the U.S. to San José, the capital of Costa Rica. Transfer to hotel. (1 Night)

Day 2: San José / Poás Volcano / Arenal

Visit a lovely coffee farm to learn about growing, harvesting, processing, and roasting coffee. Continue to Poás Volcano one of the few active volcanoes in the continent and tour La Paz Waterfall Gardens with its butterflies and birds. Continue to San Carlos and the area of the impressive Arenal Volcano. (3 Nights)

Day 3: Arenal

Horseback riding excursion to Arenal Park to admire the density and biodiversity of the forest. Continue to La Fortuna Waterfall. Stunning views of Lake Arenal and volcano. Relax in the hotel’s own natural thermal waters.

Day 4: Arenal

Today go on excursions in search of wildlife. Ride the Sky Tram gondolas for impressive views of the rainforest. Then, go on a canopy tour and zipline through the forest for a thrilling experience.

Day 5: Central Pacific / Punta Leona / Carara Nat’l Park

Depart for the Central Pacific Coast. Stop at River Tárcoles to observe crocodiles. Also, look for iguanas and a great variety of birds. Additionally, navigate through an estuary with four different types of mangroves. Stop at Carara National Park home to a large population of scarlet macaws. (4 Nights)

Day 6: Manuel Antonio National Park

Today explore Manuel Antonio National Park. The park, located near Quepos on the Pacific Coast, is considered one of the most beautiful and scenic parks in the entire park system. It combines white sand beaches backed by lush tropical forest. Look for white- faced monkeys, as well as the endangered squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, two-toed sloths, agoutis, and iguanas.

Day 7: Catamaran Island Adventure

Cruise into the open sea in search of spotted dolphins, migrating humpback whales, sea turtles, and manta rays. Anchor in a protected cove for a snorkeling adventure in the warm waters of the Pacific.

Day 8: Manuel Antonio and Damas Island Boat Tour

Navigate through the unique Costa Rican mangrove ecosystem. Look for many species of birds, reptiles, and white-face monkeys. This boat trip takes you through natural canals and provides ample opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Day 9: Departure from San José / U.S.

Transfer from your hotel to San José and the International Airport. Fly back to the U.S. and home. Arrive home the same day.
